Min Zayar is currently serving a sentence of 65 years for campaigning against the Burmese Junta. He has spent 7 of the last 18 years in jail and has been tortured by the Burmese regime.
About Me:
Min Zayer has been sentenced to 65 years imprisonment and sent to Lashio prison in Northern Shan state in North-East Burma, 607 miles from his hometown, Rangoon. He is not allowed any visitors, not even from family members. He has been imprisoned for 7 years of the last 18 years.

Min Zayer is suffering is in poor health suffering from hypertension. He is denied medical care.

He was a chairperson of the All Burma Students Union Reconstruction Commitee founded after the 1988 uprising. He was a one of the leaders during the uprising. After being arrested in 1989 because of leading an underground network he was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment.

He was released in 1995. After his released he was detained several times. In September,2007 he was detained for nearly 5 months by Home Affairs Ministry.

He is one of the co-founder of the 88 generation group and he was arrested on 21st August 2008 for his involvement of peaceful demonstration with his 88 generation student leaders because of extreme increases in fuel prices.
