I think deceptive marketing is a terrible thing, especially when it can have a detrimental effect on the health and well being of cats. As a result of the research I have done, I am against using clay cat litter for a number of reasons. Here’s the summary:

Melanie: yes clay litter is your typical cat litter. I thought the alternatives were too expensive too until I found Equine Fresh. Its sold in 40lb bags at farm supply stores for about $7 and is the exact same stuff used in the pine cat litter just bigger pellets...my cats love it and so do I!

Been using World's Best Cat Litter, corn based, for years. Works great. Yes, more expensive but lasts longer and less is used and it can be composted!

VETS do not receive a lot of nutritional classes while in vet school (mayby a half-day's worth) therefore, I would not trust their opinion on anything to do with nutrition, only would I trust their medicinal knowledge. Remember, they make $$$$ off you when they sell you the Science Diet. Read up on Dr. Elizabeth Hodgkins, she worked at Science Diet and is very vocal about what they put in their food. Remember, vets recommend what they can make $$$$ on.
