This shows how stupid and ridiculous it is to base anything on the entire stock market. Let's be realistic. There are hundreds of companies on the stock indexes and these indexes simply do not follow what you see in the news. Don't be fooled by headlines that imply the indexes are reacting to a bit of news, like this. The way to invest, is in ... See Moreindividual stocks, if you have the time and energy to do your own research. If not, seek out a mutual fund that has done well over, at least, the past five years, preferably more. You will earn only your fair share of the profits of the businesses your mutual fund is investing in, and the long term, as long as you never take your eyes off the market, business, economy, and your favorite mutual fund, you will make a little money.

I don't agree w/this article. Does it ever occur to these researchers that maybe those after 50 are: Highly stressed with too much on their plate, responsibilities, retirement, bills, taxes, declining health, their jobs, their children's college tuition, making ends-meet, the economy, etc., etc. Details can slip your mind when your mind is pre-occupied with stressful things! Besides, this study is NOT scientifically proven, rather based on opinions! Don't believe everything you read!!!
