DESCRIPTION OF THE DAUGHTERS OF AFRICA AUDITIONS
1. The Candidates and Pre-selection:
Applicants should be female between 18 - 25 years old. They
should have a good command of the English language. The
candidates will sing a traditional song, from their own heritage, and
a more modern ballad. The candidates should also hav...e official
approval from parents and family to attend the auditions.
2. Jury for Pre-selection:
The jury will exist of both modern and traditional
musicians. They will be looking for candidates with a
remarkable voice, exciting stage appearance, captivating
personality and a character that shows they would be willing
to learn. It is also important that the selected candidates should at
least be musical, pick up musical lines/melodies easily, can hold key,
have feeling for presentation and can move/dance.
3. Final Auditions:
Those who pass the pre-selection and proceed to the final auditions in mid August
will be expected to prepare 4 songs: one traditional song of their own
heritage; one song from their own country (ballad or so, no hip hop or
jazz); one international hit song and one song they would love to do
themselves.
They should prepare these songs in a stage version, including steps
and a professional presentation. The
content of the song must be brought with emotion and must be personal.
The winners, before going on tour, are trained and developed by
professional producers.
REGISTRATION/PRE-SELECTION AUDITIONS
Applicants can register at Jupiter Records in Migombani, Zanzibar
and at the Music Crossroads Tanzania Center in Sinza kwa Remmy, Dar es Salaam. This is also the venue for the Auditions.

Winners of this competition will represent Tanzania in the Interregional level which will be held in Livingstone, Zambia in August 2009 where they will meet musicians from Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and hosts Zambia. There they will compete for prizes ranging from musical instruments, trips to tour Sweden and the Net...herlands and the ultimate grand prize to undergo further training and tour several European countries.
Admission is FREE.

Music Crossroads Mc Ewen Manda, the drummer of IRF-winning band 2007 'Body, Mind & Soul' from Mzuzu, Malawi, was killed on 30th June 2009 at 7 p.m. He was hit by a passenger minibus while he was walking back to his home from town and he died on the spot. Our hearts go out to Mc Ewen's parents, family and friends - and hope they will f...ind some consolation in the fact that their grief is shared by many, many persons around the globe.

Music Crossroads Tanzania (MCTZ) invites you to join us in a celebration this Saturday as we present the 2008 Season of exciting musical festivals, activities and partnerships for the coming year!!!
The day will be packed full of Music Crossroads action including loads of performances from past and present MCTZ artists.... Talented graffiti artists from
Dar es Salaam, will be letting loose throughout the day brushing several unique pieces around the
center. Every visitor also will be able to ‘tag’ their name around the art pieces, some come on down and lay your mark on our new center!
The event will be held at the Music Crossroads Center in the Sinza kwa Remmy District and will kick off from 14:00 – 19:00 with performances from Fimbo, Albert and Damien, Afrikali, Lumumba Theatre and Zemkala.

Music Crossroads There is a hive of activity in the music industry in Zimbabwe today as Music Crossroads Zimbabwe prepares to host and the public gets more and more anxious to attend the renowned annual Music Crossroads national final competitions. Having drawn qualifiers from the ten provinces in the country, all participants conver...ge at the Harare Gardens on the 31st of May 2008 from 1200hrs till late as they battle for the first two positions. The first two groups, being the ones that will represent Zimbabwe at the Inter-regional Festival (IRF) to be held in Lilongwe (Malawi) from the 7th to the 10th of August 2008. Who would dare miss the chance to own a musical instrument (consolation prizes), attend the Ethnocamp festival in Sweden (third prize), get three weeks tour of Europe (second prize) or better still 2 – 3 months tour of Europe (first prize). You cannot afford too miss this event !!!
