Jacki Whitford

Jacki Whitford I have read every issue of this magazine since its inception. As a 50something woman, this magazine inspires me to do as many "firsts" as possible. I am looking forward to the Reinvention Convention in Washington DC March 8, 2010.

I just love lemon-poppy ANYthing so I will definitely try these! the espresso ones sound interesting to, thought I already have a coffee-flavored cookie recipe i use so don't have as much motivation to try these ~ and in truth, i hardly ever bake this kind of stuff anymore anyway ~ but they sound good ~

curious on the caramel ones ~ does anyone really go to this much trouble for homemade cookies???

MORE In her new book, Sarah Palin says that if she and Hillary Clinton ever sat down over a cup of coffee, they'd fundamentally disagree over many issues. Clinton has since stated in interviews that she'd welcome meeting Palin over a cup of coffee. What do you think they'd talk about at The Coffee Summit?

I think they would probably talk about their unique experience of being on the campaign trail as women running for two of the highest offices in the US. I can picture Hillary calling up Geraldine Ferraro and putting her on speakerphone to get her into the conversation. They would laugh, share stories, and end up sharing heartbreak, and sadness - ... See Moreover a nice bottle of wine (or two - three??). Regardless of their politics, I'm sure they would put that aside to get to know each other better as human beings. At least that is my fantasy. BTW I'm not a fan of Hillary and I like Sarah Palin.

The cost feasability of appproving mammograms definitely outweighs the cost of the outcome if preventive measures are not in place. The cost of treatment for cancer patients is insurmountable ~ preventive treatment costs several hundred dollars for a mammogram. The costs of treatment do not include the lost wages for family members and the patient... See More. Food for thought, a "personal" choice is not always "personal". It affects the family and friends who must witness and care for the suffering patient.

What, you've never seen the classic film version of Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of being Ernest?" I find the witty banter in this play/film far more amusing than that one comment!

Thanks, yes, we say on our Web site that it is from that classic film. Wonderful to see clips from these gems making the rounds on YouTube, etc.

Lesley Jane Seymour is this
really uncanny timing? first telling women to stop breast cancer
screening? now pap smears? we know that insurance for women is higher
because the companies tell us "women use more services" but is this
really a set of clean observations here or is something else driving
it? a must read:

Here's the reason why we have the cougar cafe guys: we are going to get stuck with cougar anyway. did anyone see the cameron diaz performance on Saturday Night Live which mentioned More in it about a year ago? We can't stop the label. so we are going to own it and turn it on it's ear. We laugh at it. Join us in defanging this demeaning term. If we embrace it and laugh at it, the power it has to demean goes away. I promise you won't stop society from using it.

My favorite explanation of why women should not screen for breast cancer is that false diagnosis leads to "anxiety." oh, poor us, we can't handle anxiety. well, we can handle death either if we don't get screened. Can you imagine anyone saying that about testicular cancer? Let's spare men excess "anxiety" so we won't screen?

I can't think of a bigger insult than that women's lives are not worth saving...that a 15% "save" rate is not significant enough is simply lunacy. My bigest concern is how the ins. co's will be using these reco's to deem one outside the reco's and will have yet another reason to not pay for a diagnostic test.
