NARAL Pro-Choice America
What does it mean to be Pro-Choice? It means defending the rights of women to prevent unintended pregnancy with education and birth control, to choose legal abortion, and to access the pre-natal care they need to have healthy children.

I think it's a shame NARAL isn't scoring House and Senate votes for the awful Stupak/Nelson language that will restrict women's health coverage. Why not score, NARAL? Or do you not really oppose this language?

This begrudging limbo land Retract your bristles and cruel claws
Unforgiving blighted terrain Deny your pride, allow sweet peace to
Offers little light, but let Spread across this beaten globe to
A little tall tale leak into Sweeten water, earth and air
An unsuspecting souk, entreating To soften spirits and prepare... See More
Ocean creatures, living things Please let it be in this new year
On ground, above, in sky and sea: Set ourselves free in this new year
Endure a second birth, unbare Give harps and trumpets leave to sing
Your teeth, suspend your stench, Herald the day!

With fond greetings & unflagging hope,

Without question, the pro-choice community lost two great champions in 2009 with the murder of Dr. George Tiller and the passing of pro-choice Sen. Edward Kennedy. They will forever be remembered as heroes for having lived the credo, "Trust Women."

Congratulations to the winners and the losers.

Here's something for both the winners and losers to think about.

If decent sex education could be provided (something beyond "abstinence only") so teenagers and young adults are empowered with the knowledge to make wise decisions (sexually speaking) we could virtually eliminate unwanted pregnancies and cut the spread of STDs.... See More

Just a side note. My daughter received decent sex education, thanks to her mother. That knowledge completely turned her off to sex until she became an adult.

It will never happen until we learn to educate and re program the human animal. As soon youngsters like any procreating creature turn a certain age all they think about is having relations with the opposite sex & advance their species, and the only possible way is sexual activity. It overcomes every other urge or teaching. If you try to surpress ... See Morethat primal urge you run the risk of creating a subject with deviated sexual urges.
That's why until we can elevate our primary Chakra away from the groin to the solar plexus or the Heart Chakra, sex will be the main urge of the pubescent human animal.....

NARAL Pro-Choice America The man accused of murdering Dr. Tiller will not be permitted to use the "so-called 'necessity defense'" in court. The judge says that excusing criminal actions because of personal beliefs would "lead to chaos."

Luis EQR...Violence isn't winning the argument, it's just terrifying doctors into not providing health care to women in need. I'm afraid that we will end up in the pre-Roe situation when mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, lovers and friends are dying before people wake up and see that criminalizing abortion isn't the answer. Birth control and ... See Moresex education (not abstinence) will decrease the number of abortions but will not eliminate it so there will always be a need for trained abortion providers. We need to get into medical schools and press for giving accurate information to the students regarding the need. Then we need to train them. Hopefully they will honor women and provide the necessary health care requested without judgment.

If doctors are being intimidated, women are getting screwed because they're nor getting the abortions they need and desire. Dr. Carhart is probably the only abortion provider in the country who is carrying out late term abortions. You know what that means? That many women are not getting their abortions because terrorists are intimidating doctors into not providing abortions. Clinic escorts need to be re-enforced with professional security personnel. This is a security issue.

Will NARAL please score the Nelson/Stupak language or a health care vote for a bill containing that language? It's all well and good to "oppose" the bill, but Congresspersons only fear scoring, not opposition. Unless you use your scoring power, what's the point of having it?

Thank you for opposing the Stupak/Nelson language. Now, really use your power for good!
