What does it mean to be Pro-Choice? It means defending the rights of women to prevent unintended pregnancy with education and birth control, to choose legal abortion, and to access the pre-natal care they need to have healthy children.

Michael Milillo

Michael Milillo If the SBC's word is "NOT" to be heeded, what about SBC's instructions on how to vote?
My academics, my spirituality, my felt calling didn’t matter anymore. The only thing that mattered to the SBC was my gender.
She prayed for me, but made it clear that I would never be a Southern Baptist missionary.
During the time that ...I was in the meeting with the candidate consultant, a local soup kitchen left a message on my answering machine. They wanted me to come preach and pray with the people who came for lunch on Fridays -- men included.
Apparently, the Holy Spirit decided to have the last word that day -- and God’s word is still more important to heed than the SBC’s.

    NARAL Pro-Choice America

NARAL Pro-Choice America First, anti-choice groups targeted Atlanta with billboards that read “Black Children are an Endangered Species.” Now, they are going after Houston with “Black and Unwanted” billboards. Our opponents are using race-related attacks to advance their extreme agenda.

A new anti-abortion billboard campaign claims a huge racial disparity exists among abortions in Texas. One Texas city's residents have mixed feelings about the message.

NARAL Pro-Choice America Looks like good news from Illinois. The state Supreme Court is refusing to hear a case that would enforce an anti-choice parental-notification law. http://bit.ly/abSZvo Be sure to read more about why these kind of laws are dangerous for young women.

      • Nelle Jurgeleit-Greene Can you help us up in Alaska? Prop. 2 just passed here, requiring doctors to notify parents if their teenage daughter seeks an abortion.

      • Kathy Davis Nelle Jurgeleit-Greene......with the Teabaggers up there led by Palin's backward beliefs, hatred and hypocrisy the only way may be to move out. I hope NARAL can help the women in Alaska who want the freedom to choose for themselves.

    Stephanie Lynn Peterson

Stephanie Lynn Peterson I've been seeing some negative comments here about people on welfare, and I just want to remind people to be considerate of those of us who can't afford the everyday luxuries that many Americans can. Just because I get food stamps and state-run healthcare for my daughter doesn't make me a bad or selfish person; it just... means that life is rough for us right now and we need help. Remember that, please.

I also want to point out that while my daughter was unplanned, she was certainly NOT a "miracle". I was devastated to find that I was pregnant, but I kept to it because her biological father was an abusive piece of shit. I love and adore her, of course, but this was not some devious plot to steal taxpayer money. Really, people, we're supposed to be the OPEN-minded crowd!

Also, I fucking HATE the welfare queen myth.

      • Melissa Bush Uneducated & prejudice!!!!!! Things like food stamps & helthcare come out of YOR OWN paycheck & taxes so no one other than the person who is getting the assistance is paying for it anyway. Those people do not understand the system. My fiance & I are broke ass disabled college students(who are having an impossible time getting on disability) who are on food stamps...& damn it I take care of myself, with the help of my MYSELF & my Country, no one else, period. Stay strong♥

      • Mary Elizabeth Motichka Not to mention, we bailed out the banks and the wall street assholes. So I'd rather people who are truly struggling have the assistance, than rich people who stare down at the rest of us from their ivory towers.

    NARAL Pro-Choice America

NARAL Pro-Choice America Looks like a “personhood” measure actually made it to the ballot this fall. Thankfully for NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado and friends, these measures have been swiftly defeated in the past.

A ballot measure that would bar abortions in every circumstance and even ban emergency contraception is back before Colorado voters this fall — but the campaigns for and against it are toned down from two years ago. That's because Colorado voters roundly rejected the measure to give citizenship righ...

    Alison Strieker

Alison Strieker Do pro-lifers ever think about how an unwanted pregnancy would affect a woman for the rest of her LIFE? Having to carry a child for almost a year and then give it up? Abortion should NOT be birth control, but women need to have an option when it comes to their bodies and their lives.

      • Elaine Maners Walls Pro-Lifers only care about the baby in the womb. Whatever happens after it's birth, they could care less.

I know where the feeling & idea of abortion as a form of birth control can seem wrong, still it is not. There are a lot of different types of people, I know we all know that. However there are plenty of women, myself included, who have a lo...t of health problems, from birth, that they can do nothing about. I myself use to think it was ok to say that abortion as a form of birth control was wrong, now i know better.

The simple fact is that the system of educating children about REAL sex education is being attacked by the religious right still till this day, again as we all know. In the religious rigths fight against sex education & the right to choice there is also a very clear fight against birth control in general(yet a nother product of the fight against choice). However, this one a lot of people overlook.

The fight againsat women having control over their bodies is so deep that most "different" types of birth control are actually not very different at all. Alergies...let me put it out there, they are not all just seasonal. A lot of women are alergic to latex. Most BC I know of has certain chemicals, not just hormones, & often latex as well. I also know a lot of women who are alergic to the chemicals in BC, maybe not the hormones, but other stuff. Then there are women who are ill or have a history of cancer & can not or do not want to take certain hormones. All these things consiserded, as well as married couples who should be able to enjoy feeling their partners pleasure, are just more reasons why pro-choice & proper sex education are needed.

    Nbc Editorial

Nbc Editorial Whether a woman choses to go ahead with a pregnancy or not, she should be fully informed of her options. The fact that certain pregnancy crisis centers with a pro-life bias do not disclose that bias upfront, as well as list themselves under abortions services, services they don't provide seems very suspect. We at NBC B...ay Area recently did an editorial calling for full disclosure up front of any biases, pro-life or pro-choice, and the banning on any organization listed themselves under services they don't provide for women, online or otherwise. There is a law in Austin to protect women from misleading advertising, we believe there should be one in California as well. Do you agree? We welcome your opinion, go onto our website at nbceditorials.com and your feedback may be shared on the air. Please help us to keep this important conversation going.

Bernadine Bennett I hate it that any woman has to go through an abortion but I don't believe she should be kept from it if it is her choice. There wouldn 't be so many abortions if women had more help with the children.
