I hope desktop number 12 finds you well, it’s the culmination of a whole year in my creative practice and a milestone of commitment for me. At the beginning of the year I had the idea to do monthly desktops on a whim but I’m really proud of myself for sticking with it because I have l...

Natalie Perkins Just over 600 of you, that's INCREDIBLE! I was kind of gobsmacked when 300 people became fans and now it's doubled that in only a couple of months I'm speechless!

Don't forget I'm running a silent auction to win Red Ribbons. You can make offers until Wednesday, but so far no one has bid which makes me sad *cries for your love*

I very nearly didn’t submit my report today because I just didn’t feel like it. Instead, I put on some music and squeezed out some fance!⇒ Incredible needlework by benjibot, asking all the hard questions. Who DID die and make you Mr. Fancy? Hmmm?⇒ For a while I was completel...

Iin 'sore' you pronounce an 'r', if you pronounce properly, which roles your tongue up to the roof of your mouth, in 'saw' your tongue remains flat in your mouth at the end, as there is no 'r' sound.

When Damien asked me to draw some lettering for the cover of the International Superheroes of Drawing, Illustration and World Domination book I was totally flat out but I really wanted to do it. I met quite a few awesome people, like Damien, on Red Bubble (where the International Superheroes HQ i...

Once Upon launched last Thursday night, and by all reports it was a fantastic night in Sydney. I wish I had the cash for plane tickets down for the last week, because Happenstance were launching their second issue (which I’m in!) as well! One of my pieces sold, but the other three are still ...

I keep forgetting to do the My Place and Yours theme! This week’s is My Collection, set by Fox’s Lane. I have collections of a few little things: pens, pencils, doilies but nothing big. They’re all useful things too. The biggest collection I have is buttons… just random bu...

Natalie Perkins The Once Upon show launched on Thursday night, apparently it was an awesome night. So sad I couldn't get down there! If you want to buy work from the show, check out the website. One of my pieces is already gone!

The weekend means mystery flowers from the market! The sign in the bucket said “Lizzies $5 or 3 for $10″, so I bought three for a very plump looking arrangement. I did a bit of a google for Lizzy/ Lizzie flowers but the image search results turned up some flowers that didn’t loo...

I am drawing my arm off lately for lots of people, but the other day I had a day to do something for me. This piece is bigger than I usually draw, but as a result I can’t scan it without doing bits and stitching them all together. I don’t have the time or patience right now! This is th...

A few weeks ago I was asked to take part in the Ezibuy Wardrobe Challenge, and was totally honoured to be thought of for the experience! Essentially, the challenge is this: 10 key pieces means you can create 21 different looks to take you from casual to dressy. I selected seven items from the Sar...

I bought these lovely velvety, brainy-looking Celosia from the markets because they are such fascinating looking flowers! The stems are green but have threads of the red through them and they reminded me so much of rhubarb that I wasn’t surprised to read on the wikipedia page you can eat so...

My birthday is five days out from Giftmas (December 20) and (get out your little violins) my celebrations are usually overlooked because people have engagements and stuff to buy. So it usually ends up with me having a pity party and eating worms. Allow me this one indulgence: to compile a list of...

Great list Nat. I would also love one of the pyrography tools...making do with a soldering iron atm.
My birthday is also near Christmas (16th Dec)... heading into the dirty thirties this year ...i feel your pain of late year birthdays and combined Christmas and birthday pressies.

I just stepped into the 21st century the other week: I got an iPhone. The best part about having an iPhone is having an iPhone – they’re just so lovely and sleek and well designed. It’s like having the internet by my side, where ever I am (so long as I have Optus coverage!) I&#8...

I love playing with how I look, by and large I’m pretty fortunate to live in a country where I am free to do just so. I may get odd looks, people whispering behind their hands and others who simply express their delight/ confusion to my face; as an introvert it’s not really my favouri...

The other day when I was getting ready to go out I thought I’d record my ritual. This is my “bare minimum” face for being presentable outside my house and I’ve done it since I was in my teens. I have acne that is impervious to over the counter treatments (believe me, I&#82...

You know, wearing all that foundation everyday will definately not help your acne? It will make it worse. Unless you buy natural make-up products, the usual make-up is far from good for your skin as it is, let alone foundation putting a heavy layer over the skin affecting its processes and breathing. If the acne is hormonal related, and gets ... See Moreworse around your time of month, you could try agnus castus supplements, it has been shown to help, but whether it will in this case or not, depends on the route cause. I've also heard about lemon juice on your face, but you can't have sensitive skin for that. Believe it or not, milk is a great cleanser (because the lactose). If you google it on the internet you'll probably find loads of other natural suggestions.

Nice song!:)

I don't wear make up every day any more, only when I go out. I don't have a typical acne, I have tried many remedies (natural and otherwise) with no results. I'm much happier just coming to terms with it rather than scrubbing at my face with any number of strange things.

I am pretty terrible about paying attention to things; I don’t go out of my way to watch films or read books… rather I just sort of observe, watch, read and absorb things as they come along. It might sound like a rather passive way to enjoy life, but too often I feel under pressure to...
