Added to our $50 Trillion of entitlement debt it's a head scratcher that Nanci Pelosi says we don't need an entitlement reform commission. She says we can take care of the debt in a bi-partisan fashion with disciplined efforts in committee...right!! She's dangerous to our children and grandchildren...

It is actually more like 80 trillion btwn social security and medicare. Reform commissions do not do anything they just give cover to the politicians.

Yes. Let's throw out all of our elected officials and replace them with total novices who have no idea what the fuck they're doing. Great idea, Jon.
Won't it be hilarious when these new guys can't even pass a budget because they have to learn the rules governing Congressional procedures first?

fool me once, twice, shame on who? how long are you going to trust them? u are you okay with the 40-50% taxing? you do realize that is slavery in itself, that is, to work for free 40-50% of the time, when we really only need 5% tax rates to cover a reasonable budget? do you enjoy the slavery, are you sadistic? Or are you in on the political party ... Read Moreponzi scheme?

Since civics has been taken out of education almost entirely, I understand if you believe this but do you really think the "congressional procedures" are so difficult to pick up that these politicians can't be replaced? Is that why you vote for incumbents, because no one else can do the job?

Government power comes at the expense of our own. The only way we can take it back is by excercising our power within the democratic process, and NOT re-elect. Who's side are you on anyway? Every comment you make is of this ilk.

The more these politicians go back and forth with each other, the more Barney's Frank bumbles, babbles and "side notes" on CSPAN, the higher this National Debt figure, the more burden on our next generation.

What's really "kind of interesting" is how people are still premising their drive-by comments with the "two-party system", while both parties are to the LEFT, and constantly take away our liberties, one by one, inch by inch. Bush vs. Obama, Bush vs. Clinton, Dems vs. Reps. Bush being bipartisan only plays to the idea of two parties. Bipartisan is wrong and bad and not helpful to us.

It is this sort of ignorance that keeps career politicians in office. This is the problem, this same political polarity that has always existed, the one without any other options. It's no wonder why W Bush supported Ron Paul's opponent in TX House Campaigns, and Jeb Bush's press guy coined the idea that Paul was "crazy". You don't have to be a Democrat to be for big government.... Read More

If there is finite amount of power, bigger government means less power for individuals. With corporations lobbying under and over the table, it is no wonder why we have become a "corportist" nation. What's synonomous with "corportism"? Fascism.

Do NOT relect anyone, except maybe Ron Paul. Keep them on their toes. Hopefully we're starting to see the light:

I think Diann was trying to make a point about... something. But I couldn't quite figure out what.

Obama doesn't have to pay down the debt during this administration, and even if he did, it wouldn't "cost us" that much. We'd have to pay it back eventually, regardless.

There's the problem we won't pay it back the only thing that will end this is the collaps of the US Government.

tony, there are 300 million americans.
1 billion divided by 300,000,000 = 333 PENNIES

So every billion dollars is $3.33, and if half of people pay, it's $6.66
October 28 at 2:11pm
Jeffrey
Jeffrey
and tony, if you were right about a billion dollars being $333 per american, that would mean our governments' 3 trillion dollar budget would be:

3,000 billion (i.e. 3 trillion) * $333/billion = 1,000,000 dollars of spending per american.

c'mon, man. check your work. less than 1% of Americans earn 1 million dollars every year. if the average tax rate were 1,000,000 per person, those top 1% of people are /really/ getting sucked dry to average out all those of us who pay a few tens of thousands of dollars (to speak nothing of those who don't pay).... Read More
In fact, to average all non-million payers out, they'd have to pay something on the order of 100,000,000 dollars in taxes annually.
