Thomas Thorpe

Thomas Thorpe is there any soldiers on this page with an MOS of 19D, 31B, or 19K? If so can you tell me about your experience in this field? I am trying to decide on one of these three MOS's.

Tyler,
Enlistment is not as complicated as you may think. If you prepare and get answers to your questions, then it is a smooth process. You can get answers to your questions through the Hero on Call Program, where soldiers are available to have a live online chat with you. Just go to the "Guard Talk" Tab at the top of the page to connect with soldier.

Melissa,
Yes he can join in New York and would not need to retake the ASVAB there. Where he would attend Basic and AIT depends on his MOS.
You can also go to the "Guard Talk" Tab and a Hero on Call Soldier can have a live online chat with you to answer any questions that you may have about enlistment procedures.

like they said it depends on his mos where he is shipped. Im going to olakhoma for my basic and Missouri for my ait and i live in south carolina they could have sent me to fort jackson but they dont always want to send you somewhere close to home just because they dont want to take the change of you leaving or something like that.He also gets to ... Read Morepick when he would like to leave... he just tells them a time frame and they give him a date if he likes it. p.s what part of ny are you from. im from Rochester,ny

All service members regardless of their branch of service have an initial obligation of 8 years. You decide how many of those years you will be attending drills one weekend a month and two weeks out of the year. During the remaining years of the eight year contract you will be assigned to the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR).

Jooney

Jooney if you need glasses only to see far objects like say targets at a rifle range or to see the blackboard in a classroom from the back of the room, will the drill sergeants make you wear the issued glasses all the time at basic or do they allow you to wear them only when you need them but always have them with you?

if your issued them then they make you wear them at all times I only needed mine for the ranges but i was told to wear them all the time i would get yelled at for not having them! it sucks but stick with it!
