Because of our deep roots in the community and our history of leadership, United Way is unique in its ability to spearhead social change. As change agents, we bring together experts from all across the community–government, business, faith groups, nonprofits, labor, ordinary citizens– to create long-lasting change by addressing the underlying causes of problems. How We LIVE UNITED Today, we are focusing the collective resources of our community on the building blocks for a better life: a quality education that leads to a productive career, enough income to support a family through retirement, good health and a safe place to live. United Way brings together a broad coalition of community partners to ask questions, brainstorm solutions, do research and develop a common vision. United, we can identify the best, most cost effective ways to respond to problems. Then we leverage partnerships, government funding, grant support and investor donations to tackle the problems. And we hold ourselves and our partners accountable for achieving measurable, sustainable results.
