Here he gives an eyewitness account of serving aboard the U.S.S. Tennessee in Pearl Harbor on a Sunday -- "a day of leisure" -- that also happened to be December 7, 1941.

I was aboard the U.S.S. Tennessee from June 1941 until April 1943. At Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, we were on one of the battleships referred to as “Battleship Row.”
