North Carolina Zoo This week, almost 70 North Carolina Zoo and Zoo Society staff are volunteering help with the Extreme Home makeover for the Creasy family in Lexington, NC.

North Carolina Zoo Some of the world’s most enigmatic and energetic creatures will be calling the North Carolina Zoo home mid 2010. Two species of lemurs, the Ring-tailed and the Red-ruffed will take up residence on the former Patas Monkey Island in the Zoo’s African region sometime near the Memorial Day weekend. The Zoo’s island exhibit is being retrofitted with climbing trees and other amenities to make the lemurs feel right at home.

North Carolina Zoo The Association of Zoos & Aquariums and Polar Bears International today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to work together to educate zoo and aquarium visitors on the impacts of climate change on polar bears. The MOU partners two major U.S. conservation organizations to develop programs that connect people to the impacts of climate change on polar bears and on the arctic ecosystem on which they depend.

North Carolina Zoo is selling violets from the October violet show. Proceeds from the sale go toward next year's display. The sale will be held in the Stedman Education Center multipurpose room on Tuesday, November 3 -- 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Monday, November 9 -- 2 p.m. - 6 p.m.
