Chris Nelson for Congress Kevin Woster has a great article in the Rapid City Journal today highlighting the 2010 U.S. House race. Larry Sabato, national political analyst, was calling this seat "safe" for the incumbent but has downgraded the incumbent's chances to "leans" toward reelection. South Dakotans are seeing that our campaign is chang...ing the political landscape. With your help we CAN elect Chris Nelson as our next Representative. The idea seemed ludicrous in 2006 and 2008, when Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin showed an aura of invincibility as she cruised to successive blowout victories in her re-election bids for the U.S. House of Representatives.

Chris Nelson for Congress Merry Christmas! Penny, Rebekah and I wish you the very best during this Christmas season. While our plan to drive to the eastern part of the state to spend the weekend with family has been "whited out", we look forward to attending Christmas Eve service tonight celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. What a...n incredible privilege we have in America to freely worship as we choose. Oh Come All Ye Faithful!

Chris Nelson for Congress I made my annual visit to Mrs. Sutton's fourth grade class at Pierre's St. Joseph Elementary today. We visited about South Dakota history, the campaigns to determine the location of the State Capitol (with apologies to my Huron and Mitchell friends who lost that one), and the State Seal. The students were very well b...ehaved, had a solid background in SD history, and paid rapt attention. What an enjoyable group!

Chris Nelson for Congress $12,394,000,000,000. It's a big number. In fact it's $290 billion larger than it was before the House of Representatives voted today to allow the federal government to increase the debt limit and borrow more money. 39 Democrats and all Republicans said "No" on the House vote. Our Representative said "Yes". How would you have voted?

Yep, a really big deficit, but the biggest portion of that deficit is the Pentagon. Both parties are sold out to the military industrial complex. I for one would like to see a true fiscal conservative in Congress. I encourage Mr. Nelson to include cuts to the military as part of the road to fiscal responsibility. The wars are too expensive, financed by Communist China - that is not security for this nation.

Chris Nelson for Congress Yesterday's poll numbers continue to reverberate in the political atmosphere. TheHill.com which covers Capitol Hill headlined their coverage "Latest Blue Dog in trouble: South Dakota's Rep. Herseth Sandlin". She is a typical liberal washington insider, we need conservatives that mirror SD views, not one that dances around them.

Chris Nelson for Congress What a race! Public Policy Polling shows Chris Nelson down by only seven points against the incumbent Representative! Among those 30-45, Nelson leads the incumbent by three points! This independent polling validates the strength of the Nelson campaign and our message. South Dakotans want a Representative that will ...actually VOTE for fiscal responsibility and a smaller federal government. Chris is that person.

Dan Lederman Chris,

Thank you for attending the menorah lighting service at the Capitol.

Your involvement means a lot to me and other Jews from around the state.

Chris Nelson for Congress Federal spending continues to spiral upward. Congress has passed an "omnibus" $1.1 trillion dollar spending bill with average increases in discretionary spending of 10% per department and 5,000 spending earmarks. Our own "fiscal conservative blue dog Democrat" Representative voted "YES". 28 other Democrats courageou...sly voted "NO". It's time for a true fiscal conservative Representative from South Dakota.

Chris Nelson for Congress A great group of citizens who care deeply about the future of our country gathered in Pierre last evening for a "tea party". The evening was filled with speakers, myself included, sharing their thoughts about the direction of our state and nation. Common themes were balancing the federal budget, opposition to a gover...nment takeover of the health care system, strong support for our second amendment rights, and being ever vigilent in guarding our freedoms. What a positive and encouraging evening!

Chris Nelson for Congress Sale Day! Every livestock producer knows the importance of sale day. For many producers that one day determines their gross income for the year. That income provides for their family and continued investment in their operation. A good price on sale day has an impact throughout our state economy. Widening our ag ex...port markets will be a key focus of mine in Congress. My daughter and I run a few cows and today was our day to sell the steer calves.

Chris Nelson for Congress Finally the President has made the right decision to send a troop surge to Afghanistan to hasten the defeat of the Taliban. I don't understand how the President can declare that our troops will begin departing Afghanistan in 18 months without knowing if the Taliban will be quashed at that point. We cannot afford to l...ose this war. We must see it to completion for the safety and security of our country.
