During orientation, general admission students are not required to take any placement exams. However, EOP students should expect to take both a math placement exam, and an English placement exam. We hope you're looking forward to orientation!

Hi Pam! Check-in begins at 9:00 AM at DuBois Hall on the 21st-this is the Residence Hall You will be staying in for the week. Your departure time/ check-out on the 23rd varies you may be done anytime between 11:00-2:30. However on the day you check-in you will receive a schedule and the schedule will have the best guess time of when you will be done on Thursday. Hope this helps! : )

When you come for orientation, you will learn all about that!! If you know of someone in the program who you would like to room with, make sure you inform someone when it is time for you to sign up for housing! =)

Yes, you do still need to stay overnight. Even students who live in New Paltz stay overnight for orientation! It is a very rewarding experience and you learn a lot about campus and your peers! If for some reason you are unable to stay overnight, please contact The Center for Student Development at (845) 257-3088 and speak to someone about the situation.

After you send and Official Copy of your Transcripts to the Office of Admissions they will go over it and determine how the credits will be applied. The minimum grade requirements for the credits to count depend on if you are a First Year or a Transfer student. If you are going to be a First Year student they require a C or better to count credits from courses taken. If you are a Transfer student they require a C- or better. This goes for any courses taken! Cherice Gude Hello. i am a transfer student in Eop program who will be attending New Paltz in the fall. I completed my residence hall license, but am not sure if there's specfic housing for EOP students. in fact I'm not sure how to go about choosing a dorm at all.

Many professors order their books with the Campus Bookstore in our Student Union. You can keep checking their site in early/mid August to see if any of your classes have materials posted there: http://www.newpaltz.bkstr.

Is it necessary for us to have the official transcripts sent from the community college by our orientation, or would it be ok to bring a copy of our final transcripts from our high school with that information on it, just for scheduling purposes, obviously all the proper "official transcripts" would follow. I'm just worried that you wont get them in time, I dont know how long it would take for you to get them.

You don't have to have them by Orientation.Just make sure they are here by the midpoint of the Fall semester to ensure that you get the appropriate credits!You will have the oppurtunity to discuss the classes you took with your advisor. Being aware of what classes you will try to transfer in will help in designing your schedule though!

A sandwich bar is just a place you go and order whatever kind of sandwich you want-Turkey, Salami, Roastbeef, Peanut Butter and Jelly or some of our Vegan options, on your choice of bread with your choice of toppings and condiments.

There are no math placement tests during orientation. Since the college has seen what math classes you have taken during high school, they determine what math level you should take when you come here. They will let you know during orientation what class you should be signing up for.

That all depends on what residence hall you live in. In a corridor style hall, including Esopus Hall, the bathrooms are in the hallways, so you will have to leave your room. And no, you do not have to walk across the building, there is a bathroom within a few feet of your room! In a suite style hall, including Lenape Hall, the bathrooms are located within your suite/room so you do not have to leave to go to the bathroom.

When you come for orientation, you sign up for your room in a residence hall. As the people there will guide you, you sign on and you will see what rooms are available to you. Then you sign up for a room. Nice and easy!
