dorm housing is mandatory the first year unless u already live in new paltz. not sure if that applies to surrounding areas such as poughkeepsie. after that you apply for either the same room back the following year or a different room. there are times and dates set aside for this every year. it is hard to miss! as far as i know the only dorm that ... See Morecomes close to being all freashman is esopus since they have the first year intitiative program. not all freshman are tripled, but in my last year (2007) there was more triples than i had seen in the past. triples just comes down to there not being room or if you live in lenape (some of the rooms there are tripled)...hope this helps!

Hello Amy, housing is guaranteed for all four years. Part of Esopus is reserved for first year students that are in the FYI Program (www.newpaltz.edu/fyi). Triples do occur however all students are given the opportunity to de-triple. It is up to you and your roommates to determine who would move out of that triple.

Hello Shaqualla, as long as the required materials for admission (high school transcript, SAT/ACT score(s), 1 letter of recommendation, and essay) were submitted on or before November 16th then your daughter should be in the Early Action pool.

Hello Meeche, to help ensure a smooth transition to New Paltz we provide all accepted students with a credit evaluation notifying you of what credits would be transferable to New Paltz. In addition, all transfer students attend an orientation, and are given an academic advisor as well as the opportunity to have a faculty/staff mentor to help make for a smooth transition to New Paltz.-Alicia
