Recently a hunter from Casper survived in the Wyoming woods for two weeks after he got lost on a hunting trip in the Big Horns. Any time you go into the wilderness -- no matter how long you plan on staying -- there’s a chance that you may be out there for the night, or longer.

http://www.nols.edu Fish eyes are the bubbles rising from the bottom of the pot as water is heated. Some people believe this is hot enough for reliable disinfection. We disagree.

Hi Heidi, we do say in the video that fish eyes can form at temps as low as 140 degrees, which is still not hot enough to kill all the bacteria. Thank you for the criticism and comments though! We are trying to make each video we make better than the last.

It seems like it might originate from Chief Seattle, in our book, Wilderness Wisdom, there is a similar quote which it the motto of the National Speleological Society. "“Take nothing but pictures, kill nothing but time, leave nothing but footprints.”

Maybe because on the back of the picture it has a letter from Robert Redford. And on the bottom it has 3 icons one for National Park Foundation, another is for Kodak products, the third is for Target. Sadly I cant find a year anywhere on the picture.

Hello Billy, while there is no deadline most courses fill up months in advance. I would suggest to contact our admissions office to find out about the courses you are interested in. They can give you the best sense of timing for applications. You can e-mail admissions@nols.edu with a few course dates in mind or call (800)710-6657.
