There are 1.2 billion people in this world without access to clean drinking water.

Look at that number again. 1.2 BILLION. Here are a few other statistics:

*25,000 people lose their lives to water-related illnesses everyd...ay.
*Preventable water-related illnesses kills 1 child every 15 seconds.
*Women and children walk 2 hours EACH WAY everyday to get clean water. This keeps them from getting an education or holding a job.

This is a problem. What is the solution?

Clean water wells. And we can help build them.

The Christian Campus House is offering three ways to help.

1) Join us in doing "The Project."
Did you know that the United States spends $50 billion per year on soft drinks?

For 2 weeks, we will stop drinking soft drinks and all other beverages except for water. No coffee, tea, soda, juice, milk or anything else. And the money we WOULD have spent on those things, we are giving to The Project.

We are sacrificing some of our finer things to share with those who have less.

2) Give $1.
From Monday, November 9th through Friday, November 13th, we will be sitting on toilets outside of the Food Court in the Union. (Don't worry...we won't be USING the toilets!) We simply want to raise funds and awareness to the problem.

$1 will give 1 person clean water for 1 year. And so we are going to simply be asking for everyone to donate $1. Everybody has an extra buck on them. And by giving that $1, you are giving one person clean water for an entire year.

And if you share your $1, we will give you a sticker with a toilet on it.

What's up with the toilets? Well, they are simply a tool to draw attention to the problem. We are willing to bet that each of us has gone to the bathroom today. And if we have, than we have peed into cleaner water than 1.1 billion people have had to drink today. We think this is wrong. And we want to be a part of the solution.

100% of the money raised will go to clean-water projects in Haiti.

3) Raise awareness.
If you are reading this, then you are in the perfect place to help us raise awareness. During the entire Project, we are encouraging you to make the toilet picture of this group as your profile picture. It's one of our favorite events of the fall!

We'll gather together for some hay bale jumping, a chilly hayride, and then some good food and warm drinks around a big bonfire.

And we may have a few other fun things up our sleeves.

We will meet at CCH to carpool to Chris Koger's house. (If you have a car, bring it. If you d...on't, come for a ride.)

There are 7,000 students from all over the world who live across the street from the Christian Campus House (CCH).

And each of them needs to be connected…to God and to each other. Each of them needs to know they are loved…by God and by each other. Each of them needs to love and serve…God and each other.

And that’s why CC...H exists. To proclaim the Savior. To promote spiritual growth. And to prepare servants.

The summer months in campus ministry are dry months financially. The gifts we receive from churches and individuals decline. Many think we do nothing over the summer. However, we still have Bible studies, discipleship opportunities, and plans to make and execute. Not to mention salaries to pay and lights to keep on.

Ironically enough, after a dry summer comes the fall semester. We spend more money in August and September than any other time of the year. We invest those funds in connecting and building relationships with thousands of students that affect our ministry throughout the entire school year.

And this year, we are asking for your help. We would like to raise $10,000 in the next 30 days to help us accomplish our mission on campus. And we would like to see this happen by having 500 people share $20 with us and pray Colossians 4:3-4 for us.

While receiving a $10,000 check from an individual would be great, we want this to be a community effort. I am going to ask all of my Facebook friends, Twitter followers, and blog readers to join in this endeavor.

When you give, we are asking you to pray Colossians 4:2-4 for CCH. Pray that God might:

1) Open the door for us to proclaim the mystery of Christ on campus.

2) That we might make that mystery clear, as we ought to.
