The passing of a dear friend...
Dear Members of the Hetrick-Martin Institute Community,
It is with a deep sense of loss that I write and inform you that today, a true hero for LGBTQ young people and their families passed away. Today, a community morns the loss of a true advocate, Isaac Kwock.
Isaac, an employee of HMI, touched so many of us with his kind spirit. Isaac was an educator, an impassioned staff person; a tenacious spirit; friend. Whether he was being a “force” for our cause, or lending an ear of support to one of us, none could deny that he left a place – any place – better than when he first found it.
During his time here with us, Isaac performed many tasks, including the creation of many services in the After-school Department that today, form the backbone of support to the thousands of young people who pass through our doors.
Our deepest sympathy and condolences are extended to his parents, Susan and John, his brother Darin, and to his partner, Martha.
Isaac will be deeply missed.
