Murdoch I think is apologing for his staff approaching the police and corrupting them with cash, and the pain caused by the dowler family as "internet ghouls", and groups like anon and lulzsec get hold of their info and twist it to their own agenda / propaganda - which is usually far left or far right idealogies.

I think that unless there is a "smoking gun" moment in regards to the emails then there has been a big case of a witchhunt on one news/media outlet and the police/policitians compounded by people claiming to be authorites with information that shouldn't be covered up.

Thus the 'cover up' maybe alot less toxic than the extreme stuff that has been doing the rounds, I've shared this stuff, as have many others in the confusion.

The left and right winged parties have really shown their colours - both "grandstanding" as I think the Americans call it.

If there is no serious sexual miscounduct in the police or politicans then 'the twist' is simply corruption in terms of cops being paid to give personal information to reporters and polly's turning a blind eye when it suits them - that is the scandal, the rest is speculation.
