Jodi's Macaroni and Tomatoes

-16 oz package of elbow macaroni cooked according to package directions (may have to cook longer...just 'til noodles get big, soft, & white)

 

for tomato sauce:

 

46 oz can/jar tomato juice

1 can (14.5 oz) petite diced tomatoes (optional - my mom likes them so dad adds them)

1 cup sugar (or to taste)  

1/2 tsp to 1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp to 1 tsp pepper (pepper is heavier than salt in this recipe)

 

Stir together until mixed.

 

-at least 1/2 lb block of grated extra sharp cheese (best to hand grate if possible rather than buying pregrated)

 

Layer 1/2 of sauce, 1/2 of noodles, 1/2 of cheese and repeat.

 

Cook at 325 for 35-45 minutes (until cheese is melted good).

 

He said be sure to cook at the lower temp so that the cheese doesn't get runny!
