Hello Past Attendees and the First-Timers planning to join us in Salt Lake City this December. I'm getting excited as it'll be time to hop on a plane before you know it, and then the research (a.k.a. fun) can begin. This year I'll be giving a talk about Comparing Online Genealogy Databases, which will cover how to understand what each of the major players are really offering. The talk will be based on my experiences from the past 12 months developing a new genealogy search engine called Live Roots. This project really opened my eyes to the unique (and not so unique) types of information each database company offers, and how (in some cases) the same information is available online for free!
