Blend Coffee Lounge: New Old Favorites
New Old Favorites
Panama Carmen Estate &
Guat. Finca el Injerto's Bourbon varietal
These were two darlings of our menu last year and these new batches are even more fragrant and complex than I remember. It's interesting to look back at where we were as a business and as people when we served these coffees last.
It was agreed that this batch of Carmen gave us more depth and complexity, while still displaying the delicate attributes that engage even the most casual coffee drinker.
With the Bourbon. . . I can only compare it to watching a young relative grow up over the course of sporadic family reunions until the time comes when they're tall enough to look you in the eye.
If you're interested, there's an amazing source update on Stumptown's website. (www dot stumptowncoffee dot com) The direct trade relationships being forged in Indonesia are very exciting for Lara and Kristy, both avid lovers of Sumatran coffees.
Earlier in the week a slow night shift yielded an experimental batch of Ethiopia Misty Valley cold press. The distinctive sweet berry notes definitely came through the cold extraction process, without the sharp citrus tang that we were expecting. Some unexpected smokiness made me feel like I drinking some sort of strange bacon/blueberry fusion. Anyways, it was a hit and we quickly sold out.
