Monmouth Civic Chorus: MONMOUTH CIVIC CHORUS ANNOUNCES NEW SEASON
MONMOUTH CIVIC CHORUS ANNOUNCES NEW SEASON
The award-winning Monmouth Civic Chorus announced its 2009-2010 season of superb choral music under the baton of Dr. Mark Shapiro, Artistic Director and Conductor. Season subscribers receive premium seating at the best price.
This year’s traditional holiday performance of Messiah is on Sunday, December 20, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. at the Count Basie Theatre, 99 Monmouth Street, Red Bank. Handel's beloved oratorio will be performed in its entirety, with soloists and chamber orchestra. For many music lovers, it won't be Christmas without it. Single tickets are $45 for premium seating ($40 seniors, $35 groups, $10 students), and $25 regular seating ($22 seniors, $20 groups, $5 students).
The rafters will ring at Tower Hill when a brass ensemble joins the Chorus in Sing the Body Electric on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 8:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 255 Harding Road, Red Bank. The concert features glowing music by contemporary composers Paul Hindemith, Frank Martin, and Vince Peterson, with commentary by Dr. Shapiro.
The Chorus returns to the Count Basie Theatre for another of its signature events combining music, readings, and theater to bring history to life. This edition, American Folk, is a musical and historical invocation of our American landscape. The performance is on Sunday, May 2, 2010, at 4:00 p.m. Single tickets are $30 for premium seating ($27 seniors, $20 groups, $10 students), and $25 regular seating ($22 seniors, $20 groups, $5 students).
The Monmouth Civic Chorus is the proud recipient of the 2008 ASCAP/Chorus America Alice Parker Award, which recognizes a chorus for programming significant recently composed music that expands the mission of the chorus and challenges the chorus's audience in a new way. Under Artistic Director, Dr. Mark Shapiro, the Chorus has been acclaimed as "electrifying" (Asbury Park Press), " impressive" (The Star-Ledger) and "gorgeous" (Red Bank Green).
Subscriptions are $75 for all three concerts. Subscribers get premium seating and a 25% discount over single-ticket prices. Student subscriptions are only $25. Call (732) 933-9333 or visit www.monmouthcivicchorus.or g for subscriptions, tickets and information.
