Gus Cutty: Silver Screen pt. 1

Silver Screen pt. 1

If you know me then you know that I am a huge fan of cinema. I know, I know, we all are, and I would not dare claim that I have a more vast knowledge of Hollywood than you, its just that those around me seem to be consistently stepped back by my love of movies. Taking this into account, I would say that this blog has been neglected in terms of this subject and so… This is part one of my catching yall up with the many movies I am excited about that are releasing in the near future. In addition, I would like to catch you all up with some lesser viewed greats Ive become a fan of as of late. For instance, my rellie Sean Julian, whom you may recognize as the producer of my song S.F. State of Mind had been, I dont want to say nagging, but consistently reminding me that I MUST watch this movie about a black CIA operative, the first black CIA operative to be exact, who takes his knowledge of guerilla warfare back to his old neighborhood in Chicago and builds a trained militia with the mission to take America in the name of the black man. Its amazing. I love old black exploitations and this is definitely one of the first and most impactful. Netflicks it…

And from the past to the future, I would like to start with a movie releasing next week and that I have been eagerly awaiting since I first saw the trailer early this year. 9, produced by Tim Burton, is another post-apocalyptic tale of a band of somethings attempting to survive in, ok , I dont really know much about the story, and will once again not allow myself to be fooled by an impressive name as a producer credit, but just check out the trailer…

I have already read several reviews of 9s lackluster character development and script, but I cant say that I really care at this point. There are times when I’m just down to watch some amazing animation and this one is right up my alley. Speaking of animation, my girlfriend and I went to Kabuki Cinema last Friday and watched Ponyo, Hayao Miyazaki’s, the creator of Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away, newest film. It is extremely cute, rated G, and really nothing bad happens the entire time, but amazing looking and still hand drawn after all these years. Miyazaki has some strange things going on inside his noodle. The colors are amazing and if you can stomach cute, or have kids then you should definately not let this one slip by.

Anyway, I have 1 metric shit ton of other trailers I want to turn yall onto so, until next time let this scene from The Spook Who Sat By the Door sit with you for a bit.
