NATURE’S CORNER STORE PARTICIPATES IN “EXTREME GREEN COMMUNITY MAKEOVER”
St. Charles, IL – Nature’s Corner Store of Edmonton, Alberta participated in the “Extreme Green Community Makeover” held during Aquascape’s 10th anniversary of Pondemonium®, the water garden industry’s premiere business and networking event. On July 17th-18th the Lakes of Bliss Woods neighborhood in Sugar Grove, IL received a green makeover by incorporating rainwater harvesting solutions, native plantings, pervious patios, LED landscape lighting and more.
Ed Beaulieu, chief sustainability officer for Aquascape, Inc., and his wife Ellen, initiated the Extreme Green Community Makeover in their Sugar Grove neighborhood and received an overwhelming response. “Neighborhoods created before the popularity of sustainable landscapes can be retrofitted to become environmentally friendly,” explained Ed Beaulieu. “Outdoor conservation efforts need not be limited to new construction sites. Our vision was to create a template for contractors or homeowner associations to implement in greening their own communities across North America.”
Henry van Elst of Nature’s Corner worked with other contractors from across North America to install more than 20 sustainable landscape projects that included ecosystem ponds, rain gardens, RainXchange™ Rain Barrels, and the RainXchange™ System that pairs a sub-surface rainwater harvesting storage system with a decorative fountain, Pondless® Waterfall, or permeable patio. Native plantings and a large aeration system for the neighborhood’s retention pond were also added.
Henry van Elst of Nature’s Corner received valuable hands-on training for sustainable landscape projects using the RainXchange™ System by Aquascape, Inc. In addition, numerous workshops for best business practices were available to attendees of Pondemonium®.
