The Run Continues

Nobody picked them to go this deep in the playoffs but that doesn’t matter to the Gatineau Olympiques. They were all over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 6-2. This marks the first time the Huskies have lost in the playoffs. Jean-Philip Chabot had a hat trick and added a for the Olympiques. Philadelphia Flyers prospect Claude Giroux continues to go on a tear with a goal and three assists. Ryan Mior made 25 saves in the victory. Tyler Hawes and Yannick Riendeau got the two goals for the Huskies. Maxim Gougeon stopped 29 shots.

More OHL News

Game Two OHL final was tonight in Belleville and the Kitchener Rangers showed why they are #1 in the CHL winning 5-2 and improving their record to 14-1. They scored 2 in the first,1 in the 2nd and 2 in the 3rd (One goal by M.Boedker). Boedker had 1 goal & 1 assist and was first star. His playoff record is 15 GP -9 goals-18 assists=27 pts +9.This kids stock is rising fast top 5 for sure. Game 3 is on Sunday in Kitchener(5P.M.
EST).This game is on Rogers Sportnet(country wide). Could be a chippy game as there were a couple of fights at the end.

Big news today out of Kitchener their 1st round pick of last year Cam Fowler(USA Under 17 ) has been deleted from the Ranger protected list and put back in the OHL draft (tomorrow). In exchage Kitchener will receive a compensation draft pick in the 2nd round. Sounds like Kitchener gave up on signing him and decided to delete him and get another pick. Will be interesting to see what happens here on this subject to see if anybody decides to take a chance and drafts him. I have a funny feeling he may end up in London as the Hunters have had luck drafting American players(Mark Hunter may just pull this off ). Also this week Plymouth Whalers (OHL ) signed their 1st round pick from last years draft Beau Schmitz who this year played with the USA Under 17 program.

I want to thank Ken Alward again with this information.

Also just like the Miami Dolphins the Sudbury Wolves make their selection before the draft.  Meet John McFarland. The Erie Otters, you are on the clock.

That’s My Take
