isoHunt.com: Major search code update!
Major search code update!
After more than doubling our torrents index size, we've just released major changes to search results under the hood. You now get both more relevant and wider breadth of results for all searches. Meaning, you get more results due to our significantly increased index size, and less but more relevant results for searches that return too many hits, by accounting for more common search terms and improved query parsing. And you can now search by keywords of BT sites' URLs and trackers' announce URLs, something you couldn't do before, on isoHunt or any other BitTorrent site.
For example, http://isohunt.com/torrent s/linuxtracker returns more than just torrents with keyword "linuxtracker" in the torrent files' comments, files or directories listing. If the torrent files uses linuxtracker.org:2710 as either its primary tracker, or has been indexed from the website www.linuxtracker.org, search for "linuxtracker" will include the torrents in search results. This lets you do interesting things, like a search for linuxtracker x86 for all linux related torrents from linuxtracker.org of the x86 arch. You can search similarly for Jamendo's Creative Commons music, etc.
We are proud to continue to lead in both breadth of our index size, and quality of our search results. If you want to verify, we encourage comparison studies between same searches on isoHunt.com and other BT sites, and link to them here. And we certainly like to hear what you think and how we may improve our search more!
