Pimp My Bookcart - October 2009
Our good friends at the Shaw Library have asked for our help with the annual Pimp My Bookcart competition. Pimp My Bookcart is basically like "Pimp My Ride" on MTV – but instead of a car, you take a junky old bookcart and give it a tricked out makeover.
Previous entries have looked like Volkswagen Beetles, Pink Cadillacs, hot dog carts, fire trucks, a tractor, a toolbox, Transformers... You name it! The contest is judged on four categories: Functionality (it still has to work as a bookcart), Execution (it has to look well made), Originality (duh), and Presentation (photographed in an appropriate environment).
We need you to bring your craftiness and handiness to help young patrons of the Shaw Library bring their vision to life. Think you have what it takes to seal the deal of victory by having the most pimped out bookcart? If you are interested in participating, please email volunteer@capitolletters.o
When: Saturday, October 24, 2009, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Where: Shaw Library (945 Rhode Island Ave NW)
How: Shaw-Howard University Metro Station (Green line) - Use the R St exit
