One of the newest additions to the West End of Allentown is the West Side Diner at 19th and Tilghman streets. The West Side Diner is a family-owned and run establishment that plans to contribute to the growth of Allentown’s West End.
The diner uniquely cozy and family-friendly atmosphere and at the same time has an affordable delicious menu. It features American and Greek fare with daily specials running from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. The diner also offers a full a salad bar including 30 different items with homemade salads and salad dressings. Hisham Jaber, son of the owner, Mohammed Jaber, says the diner prides itself on keeping the cuisine “simple and fresh”.
The West Side Diner is a fantastic fit for the West End of Allentown because of the owner’s dedication to their community. The Jabers said they are interested in the improvements to the West End because they have been living there for 13 years. The status of the area directly affects not only the business aspect of their lives, but their private lives as well. The family is enthusiastic about the diner’s location because they believe that the West Side Diner is a more welcome and more appropriate addition to the neighborhood than the auto parts store that was considering the same location.
