North Shore-LIJ Health System Foundation: Local Employees Go Casual for Kids, Raise More Than $20K for Schneider Children's Hospital

Local Employees Go Casual for Kids, Raise More Than $20K for Schneider Children's Hospital
New Hyde Park, New York—More than 1,500 employees of the North Shore-LIJ Health System and local businesses went casual for kids on September 16, making a donation to Schneider Children’s Hospital in New Hyde Park in exchange for the privilege of wearing jeans to work. In total, the first annual Miracle Jeans Day brought in more than $20,000 for the hospital.

Miracle Jeans Day was developed recently by the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN), an international nonprofit organization that raises money for over 170 children’s hospitals across the country. Schneider Children’s Hospital has partnered with CMN for more than a decade to raise funds and awareness for young patients throughout the New York metropolitan area.

“This was an opportunity for employees to be comfortable for the day; it also provided a fun and memorable way for them to come together as a group and give back to their community,” said Megan Stiles, assistant director of development for the North Shore-LIJ Health System Foundation and the health system’s coordinator of Miracle Jeans Day.

Schneider Children’s Hospital (SCH), the largest provider of pediatric healthcare in New York State, was recently ranked once again among the top children’s hospitals in the nation in several specialties by U.S. News & World Report. SCH is committed to the comprehensive care of children, from infants to young adults.
