Come and hear Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra at Lighthouse Open Day this Sunday
Absolutely free!

The full BSO is to perform at Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts on Sunday 18 October as part of the venue’s amazing Open Day. Two performances of popular classics will be held in the Concert Hall - free music for all the family!

Conducted by David Hill, the BSO’s Associate Guest conductor, the two 45 minute performances are at 12 noon and 1.30pm, and are a taster concert of everyone’s favourite classical music. So whether you are classical music fan or want to try the concert experience for the first time, this is an excellent opportunity to hear a world-class orchestra for free! The programme includes:

Mozart Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
Saint-Saens Danse Macabre
Glinka Overture - Ruslan and Ludmilla
Mussorgsky Night on a Bare Mountain
Tchaikovsky Waltz from Eugene Onegin

The Open Day itself is a full day of free workshops and performances starting at 10am. As well as the BSO concerts, at 2.30pm musicians from the Mini-BSO will be holding a Children’s music workshop, Down on the Farm, for 4 – 7 year olds; at 3.45pm Andy Baker the BSO’s charismatic Community Musician will be leading an improvisation workshop entitled ‘Fusion’ for all-comers with all instruments; and David Daly, BSO Principal Double Bass will play Classical Duets with Ben Birtle on cello in the afternoon. All this and theatre, crafts, creative writing, building tours, jazz, poetry, choirs – come and explore your local arts centre!
