Pay It Forward Photography Resource Blog: Meet Abby…A Twitter Rockstar #tog

Maintaining friendships and relationships with 11,500+ followers on Twitter could be time consuming enough, then add young kids & a photography business (website). Meet Abigail Harenberg (@abbyharenberg) a Chicago photographer with a growing and loyal Twitter following who seems to make it not only look easy but fun. She’s nothing short of a social media socialite with a sense of humor and a love for inspirational quotes.

I have followed Abby for quite some time and three things about her strike me as wonderful. 1) She social media savvy: she gets the two-way streetness of Twitter and is active with retweets, her @ replies, and #hashtags. 2) She’s fun-loving and warm. That shows in who she is on Twitter and how she interacts with others. She’s genuine. 3) She is ardent in connecting with others in the photography community with #followfriday recommendations and regular #togsfollow introductions. She is active in bridging gaps in our industry, but definately not limited to only photography. She’s diverse.

Here’s a short little Q&A with the darling Miss Abigail:
LC: Tell me about what you find so appealing about Twitter?
AH: I think it’s amazing to be able to meet people from all over the world if it wasn’t for twitter, I would not know so many awesome people I call my friends now.
LC: What would you consider your “abby factor” that draws followers in and keeps them engaging with you?
AH: I have fun, I do what comes from the heart, what feels right for me, I think if I stay true to myself, the people that feel like me will becomepart of my network, which makes it an awesome twitter experience.
LC: Has Social Media changed you & your business?
AH: Definitively! If so, in what way? I learned a lot about people and myself, makingmemake smarter decisions about myself and mybusiness, also the fact that tons of smart people who can help from any perspective are so easily available is amazing!
LC: However to do manage bonafide social relationships with 11,000+ followers. Do you eat, sleep, tweet?
AH:
I do, however it does requiredtime, there is so much that you need to know and it’s something that you have to keep up with, but the exposure that you get from it, it’s amazing!
LC: What’s the best advice you have for photographers new to Twitter or social media that you can share with us?
AH: The best advice would be to be themselves, have fun, keep your network open to people with the same interests as you and I don’t mean photography onlyI think it is much better for you and your business to network witha variety of people.
I enjoyed getting to know Abby a bit better and hope you did too. If you aren’t one of her many followers already, check her out. Be sure to tell her that we sent you.
