Job Description

The ArtSplash coordinator is responsible for implementing the Sioux City Art Center’s annual Labor Day weekend arts festival featuring artists’ booths, children’s activities, food vendors and entertainment. The coordinator works closely with the development associate and relevant Art Center staff, while providing leadership to a core of 60 – 70 volunteers. The position offers some flexibility since most of the coordinator’s work is concentrated between February–October of each year. The ArtSplash coordinator is an Art Center Association of Sioux City contract position reporting to the Art Center director. Salary range: $26,000 – $28,000.

Yearly Timeline of Arts Festival

December: Inventory
January: Artist Prospectus mailed to database list
February: Artist Selection and jury procedures
March – April: Volunteer assignments and communication
January – March: Receipt of artist entries
March – September: Manage Steering Committee meetings, and plan with various individual committees
April: Entries reviewed and juried by guest jurors / Selection of food vendors
May: Notification of accepted artists / Selection of Children’s Area activities
June: Inventory
July: Volunteer applications mailed
August: Purchase Patron Program initiated
Labor Day weekend: Wednesday – Sunday, ArtSplash, Festival of the Arts (set up and tear down)
September: Thank you letters, evaluation meeting, committee
reviews, final report, final inventory
October – December: Review/selection of entertainers, and design prospectus, festival information to artist organizations and magazines
