Have a look at some of these great videos and essays from young people in BC ages 13-24. The Invent The Future Contest was organized by BC Hydro's Power Smart program. It is an ideas contest. Ideas for conserving energy. Ideas for producing sustainable energy. Ideas for a sustainable product or even adopting a sustainable lifestyle change. The deadline for entries is November the 8th. You can vote online so have a look and vote for your favourite.

I would like to spend my whole day looking at all the entries but I guess there is other work to do. Here are a couple I liked. I have to admit though, I voted for the essay entitled Earn Your Turns, a Zero Footprint Ski Trip by Mallory Hewlko as this issue is near and dear to my heart! Please tell me your favourites so that I can take a few peeks later in the day!

These young engineers have got the right idea - just a bit more inventing to do. I think I will send them a copy of Serious Microhydro: Water Power Solutions from the Experts when it comes off press in the spring!
