Whether you're a betting wizz or know nothing about placing a bet (like most of us here) it seems almost un-Australian to not place a bet on Melbourne Cup day.  Are you like me and bet on the horse with the name you like most or with the nicest colours?  Or do you bet on the favourite and hope it wins?  Whatever your betting style is, and if it's your one bet of the year, it somehow seems to make the race that stops the nation that big more exciting.
