Viva Visibility- Coaching and Consulting: Planning My Year- Starting Today

Planning My Year- Starting Today

In my last post, I shared how NOW is the time to start planning for your success. It’s so tempting as the year comes to an end to put a lot of expectations on January.

“Oh, I’ll be working on that in January when I plan my year.”

“Yes, I’ve got that on my January to-do list.”

Forget January, how about today?

Enough of my railing on and on how waiting to plan is a form of procrastination.

I’m sitting here steeped in how I want my upcoming year to look (and my year does not start January 1, it starts right this second). Here’s what I’m cooking up:

1. Time Freedom: More midweek vacation days.

I played hooky a few Wednesdays ago, picking up Dr. Fern Kazlow (@DrFernKazlow) from the airport then whisking her and both our kids off for a long lunch by the water then an impromptu beach day.

It was heavenly, one of those “only in Southern California” moments. The weather was warm, the kids were having a blast, and the sun was merciful. “That’s it,” I declared, “I’m doing this more often!”

My assistant who schedules me nearly had a coronary when I told her because my schedule is pretty tight as it is. But it will all work out. In fact, this week I’m taking off Thursday to celebrate my daughter’s birthday at a theme park. My “new year” has already started and it’s barely November!

Like I say in my house, “When Mama’s happy, everybody’s happy.” Those midweek days off are part of the “everybody’s happy” plan.

2. More Studio Time

I’m currently running an “underground” mentoring program that’s not advertised to the general public. I hand selected a few people to join me as I work on creating what I call my “Dream Offer” for people who want to work closely and very exclusively with me.

When I told them what I was up to and if they’d like to create their Dream Offer side by side, they said YES. I forewarned them: this isn’t a webinar or a class or a program that comes with binders and CDs. This is a Masters Studio, and what they’re paying me to participate is RENT to access the creative studio.

I think I’m onto something… I didn’t realize how much fun this could be and how incredibly more productive people are when they’re co-creating the experience.

Because it’s highly filtered who can be in this studio, it’s a dream team of thought leaders and innovators. Way cool. Way, way, way, way cool.

3. More Message, Less Medium

I’ve always been first and foremost about helping experts get their powerful messages out to the masses. Social media just happens to be a big way to get known. Well, the past 18 months have been quite the whirlwind for us early adopters and Web 2.0 explorers. Everyone wants to know how to use social media, but in the process our true genius was being overshadowed. When I meet people who know of me as a social media expert but have no idea about my mission to be of service to thought leaders and messengers, then I smell trouble.

So get ready, because there’s going to be a recalibration coming up. Too many people are feeling called to something bigger than what they are for me to ignore. You’ll be hearing a whole lot more from me about that. It’s all being breathed into being in my Idea Studio… more will be revealed.

Those are my plans that are already underway. By the time 2010 rolls around, more things will have come to fruition. I’m excited to completely roll back into my creative roots and let my curiosity continue to guide me. The people around me always seem to enjoy it when I’m in transformation because trust me- it’s going to be a fun ride!

What sounds like fun for you?
