Amherst County: Mike McCormack, Residency Administrator (434) 946-7631

  • Route 29 Business over Williams Creek (Town of Amherst) – Be alert to changes in traffic pattern during bridge rehabilitation project. Est. completion is 11/24/2009.
  • Route 29 Business Sidewalk Enhancement project (Ambriar Shopping Center – Williams Creek Bridge) – The Town of Amherst is conducting this project which may result in delays.

Appomattox County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator (434) 352-7135

  • Route 460 Business, 629 and 630 – Delays possible during surface repairs.
  • Various – Crews will cut brush on secondary routes with a boom axe.

Buckingham County: Alan Leatherwood, PE, Residency Administrator (434) 983-2017

  • Route 600, 621, 655 and 778– Crews will cut brush. Minor delays are possible.
  • Various – Crews will machine dirt roads, respond to customer concerns and perform ordinary bridge maintenance.

Campbell County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator (434) 947-2167

  • Route 29 Bypass, 460 (683 – 681), 501/128 (Mayflower Drive to 460 East), 683 (1597 – 1538) -Surface work may result in closures.
  • Route 690 (near 617) – Delays expected during bridge project starting October 5.
  • Various – Crews will boom axe, make surface repairs, and perform customer service.

Charlotte County: J. D. Barkley, II, PE, Residency Administrator (434) 735-8189

  • Route 15 over 15/360 Bypass – Bridge rehabilitation project; one lane traffic controlled by signal. Be alert to changes in traffic pattern. Est. comp. 12/09.
  • Route 92 – Bridge closed indefinitely over Staunton River at Charlotte/Halifax County line.
  • Route 707 – Closed indefinitely due to bridge fire. Signed detour in place.

Cumberland County: Alan Leatherwood, PE, Residency Administrator (434) 983-2017

  • Route 45 (611-614) – 35 mph speed limit; 1 lane Mon – Sat, 7 am – 7 pm with flaggers and pilot vehicles assisting during construction. Minor delays are likely. Est. comp. 5/14/10.
  • Route 640 and 660– Tree trimming operations may result in delays for motorists.
  • Route 672– Brush cutting may result in delays. Use caution.
  • Various– Crews will do surface repairs and perform ordinary bridge maintenance.

Halifax County: J. D. Barkley, II, PE, Residency Administrator (434) 476-6342

Route 92 – Bridge closed indefinitely over Staunton River at Charlotte/Halifax County line.

Route 602 (889 – 737) – Road closed to through traffic for bridge replacement; approximate completion 1/15/10. Detour: 602 to 732 to 601to 789 and back to 602.

Route 633 over NS Railway @ Lunenburg line, 724 over NS Railway near Scottsburg – Bridge inspection – November 9.

Pittsylvania County: Randy Hamilton, Residency Administrator (434) 432-7214

  • Route 58 Business West –N Main to Bryant Ave., expect possible delays through 12/31/09 due to Worsham Street Bridge project. Be alert and use caution.
  • Route 831 – Crews will perform fencing operations.
  • Route 882 over Sandy River – Delays are possible during bridge maintenance. Beginning 10/5, motorists will stop at end of bridge and proceed when available lane is clear. Exp. comp. 11/20.
  • Brosville – Crews will mow with a boom axe, make surface repairs and ditch.
  • Gretna – Crews will clean and clear right of way, work shoulders, patch potholes and address customer concerns.
  • Kentuck – Crews will make shoulder and surfaces repairs, trim trees, perform bridge maintenance and respond to customer concerns.
  • Mt. Airy – Crews will perform surfaces repairs and bridge maintenance, clean pipe and respond to customer concerns.
  • Rondo – Crews will clean around bridges and guardrail.

Prince Edward County: Alan Leatherwood, PE, Residency Administrator (434) 983-2017

  • Route 15 over Route 460 – Bridge rehabilitation project. Est. comp. October 2009.
  • Route 460 East (mile post 262.58 to Nottoway line) – 45 mph and one lane traffic 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. during pavement rehabilitation project. Estimated completion – April 2010.
  • Route 613 and 667– Crews will cut brush. Use caution.
  • Various – Crews will respond to customer requests, repair surfaces, and perform ordinary bridge maintenance Delays are possible and caution urged.

Also Note: 460/501 Ramp Paving Planned at interchange near Falwell Airport and Florida Avenue in Lynchburg over next several wekeends.
