You're Invited!... Join us at at our meetings and competitions, see our website for schedule.
The Cobb Photographic Society invites you to visit with us and meet our members. Made up of a mixture of Cobb County novice, amateur, advanced amateur, professional and retired professional photographers, the club is sure to give you the opportunity to mingle with the group of your choice. Established in May of 1974, the Cobb Photographic Society celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2004 and continues to grow.

CPS was started by a small group of photographers who were members of the Lockheed Camera Club. They realized that the Lockheed Club was limited only to Lockheed Employees and they had many photographer friends who were not eligible for membership. These guys met and hammered out the details of forming a new club. The charter members of the club were Riley Blackmarr (dec), John Brooks, Leo Burgess, Carter Darnell, Guy Marlow, Russ Legeikis, and Charlie Zatsick. For the next thirty-some years, officers and members of CPS have provided excellent technical and educational programs as well as a competition forum where members could see their work judged alongside their peers.

Currently, CPS meets on the first and third Monday of each month at the Cobb County Main Library. Meetings start at 7:00pm and are over by 9:00pm. The first meeting of the month is a competition meeting where members enter according to categorical themes. There are specific entry rules and specifications which can be obtained on the Contests page.

The second meeting of the month is a technical or educational program presented by a member of the photographic or art community. CPS also sponsors field trips where the members go out and shoot together.

CPS provides a wonderful opportunity for like-minded photographers to meet and discuss photography issues, trends and concerns. With over 140 members, CPS is one of the largest area camera clubs and we invite you to become one of us.

Membership in CPS is $20.00 per year for an individual. A membership form can be downloaded from this site.

Our Mission

The mission of the Cobb Photographic Society is to foster the use and appreciation of photography as a science, an art, and a hobby by the members of the club and the general public; to provide means for the exchange of ideas, assistance, and technical information; and to provide means for competition among fellow photographers.
