The Alaya String Quartet's performance of Beethoven's String Quartet in C minor, Op.18 No.4 won first prize ($1000.00) in the chamber music category on Sunday, May 11th, 2008 at the Festival de Musique Classique du Bas-Richelieu in Sorel-Tracy, QC. The panel, consisting of Pierre Morin (assistant principal cellist of l'Orchestre symphonique de Québec) and Guy Carmichaël (professor of French horn at the Conservatoire de Musique de Québec), assigned the quartet a score of 96%. There were 10 other ensembles in the chamber music class.
