OUT-OF-TOWN
Kawartha Ecological Growers Halloween Harvest
Grassroot Organics Farm, 472 Farms Road, R.R.#2, Woodville
1:00 PM to 10:00 PM
$20 or $15 with contribution of prepared food for the harvest table
Help Kawartha Ecological Growers raise funds for an eco-friendly building with cold and dry storage areas, a certified kitchen and butchery, cheese making facilities, office and meeting space, and maybe even a little restaurant, allowing them to move forward in their mandate to bridge the gaps between urban and rural, and increase public awareness about the issues surrounding Ontario's farms, farmers, and food through community education and good eating. The day will feature food from Marc Breton (Gladstone Hotel), David Chrystian (Victor), Joshna Maharaj (ROM), Kyle Deming (Starfish) and Michael Sacco & crew (Chocosol), as well as live entertainment and activities, raffles and auctions, and much more.

Cask Days 2009
Volo, 587 Yonge Street
Friday sessions: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM
Saturday sessions: 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM
some sessions sold out - remaining tickets available at Volo
Every fall for the past five years, Volo has invited our local brewers to make beer - cask conditioned beer, that is. Cask beer is a traditional method of making beer that is unpasteurised and without filtration. It is then fermented in and served from a cask without gas pressure. Once tapped, cask beer only has a few days to be consumed at its peak. At Cask Days, you can expect some unique ales (and the occasional lager) in a variety of styles and there's always a surprise or two. (Final day.)
