Brazos Animal Shelter: Halloween Saftey – For you and your pets!

Halloween Saftey – For you and your pets!

I was walking through PetSmart (which is a normal thing for me) and I came across a great Pet Safety Tips sheet near the Banfield clinic. Had to share with all our pet people.

1. Keep your Pet away from the front door.
Dogs in particular, may feel the need to protect their home and may bite your bizarre-looking visitors, or become frightened.

2. Ensure decorations cannot be pulled down.
Your Pet could become injured or even entangled and cause harm to themselves in their panic to get free.

3. Do not take your cat or dog with you in the car while your kids go trick-or-treating.
It can be very frightening to a Pet to sit in a dark car while scary creatures of every size and shape walk by. Your normally friendly Pet can become aggressive and protective/

4. Do not give your Pet candy.
- Chocolate contains theobromine, a substance that can be lethal if ingested by your Pet.
- Sticks on caramel apples can be swallowed and cause damage to internal organs or choking.
- Packaging can cause choking or intestinal blockage. Foil wrappers can become as dangerous as razors when swallowed.

5. Keep your Pet inside.
There are plenty of stories of vicious pranksters who have teased, injured, even stolen Pets that arel eft in their yards or allowed to roam outside on this night.
