The public has spoken, the votes have been counted – and the winner of the $5,000 grand prize in the Drive $marter Challenge campaign video contest is David Markus of Beverly Hills, Calif., creator of “Backseat Smart Driver,” in which two buddies get fuel-efficiency tips from…what else, a savvy “Smart Driver” perched in the back seat.

The second, third and fourth place videos are:

• “Car Pooling” by Alec Wells, who will win a VIP Indy Racing League Package (two tickets and two garage/pit lane passes to an Indy race event, plus a test drive in an Indy car) donated by Bryan Herta Autosport;

• “Driving $mart: 3 Easy Tips” by Arturo Morales, who will get a VIP NASCAR Race Package (two tickets and two garage/pit passes to a NASCAR race event) donated by NASCAR; and,

• “A Smarter GPS” by Andy Anderson, who claims the Transportation Efficiency Package, including four Michelin Energy Saver All Season Tires (or comparable tires for his vehicle), a one-year AAA membership, and two memberships in the Silver Spoke League of American Bicyclists.

The 10 finalist videos are on the Alliance to Save Energy's YouTube channel which will ultimately feature all 65 contest videos.
