The Taxwoman Cometh, Again

WSRP Weekly Update - 11/24/2009
We've seen this farce before. Gov. Gregoire and her administration overspend in the good times, and then pretend to be flabbergasted by the painful cuts that have to be made in the bad times. It’s the same old song and dance we’ve seen replayed ever since Gregoire became governor.
Despite promising not to raise taxes in 2004, Gov. Gregoire went back on that pledge within hours after being sworn in. One year after being re-elected on a similar no tax increase pledge in 2008, the governor is again talking about raising taxes.
What’s that old saying: fool us once…Well, none of us were really fooled to begin with.
But the Democrats in Olympia aren’t just worried about the $2.6 Billion budget deficit that their disastrous big spending policies created. You see, Gregoire and her cronies have read the political tea leaves (Bon Voyage, Boeing!), and fear that their party’s iron-fisted grip on power in Olympia may finally be coming to an end.
And it is, if we have anything to say about it.
You’ll continue to hear from us as the health care debate drags on in Washington, D.C. But we’re also focused on defeating any tax increases that the Democrats in Olympia try to pass in 2010, just as we did successfully in 2009!
Fortunately, after this Fall’s elections, we’ve added another Republican to the State House to help us defeat a massive tax hike. But just as we did last year, we’ll need to work hand-in-hand, grassroots activists and GOP legislators, to carry the day.
Please stay tuned to our Olympia Watch page for action alerts, and all the latest news from our State Capitol as we head into the 2010 Legislative Session. And continue to visit our Health Care Action Center for the latest on the national health care debate.
Have a blessed and happy Thanksgiving, and all the best to you and your family!
Sincerely,
Chairman Luke Esser
