Have you ever wondered how much of you has made it into Google? If you have a website, a Twitter account, a Facebook account, and if others are linking to any of that, Google is indexing that stuff every day. Why is this important? Well, because it’s you . . . and anybody can find it. Shouldn’t you know what they can find?

Enter Google Alerts. Google Alerts lets you enter search terms and create an alert which e-mails you when a new page with that search term gets indexed. For instance, I’ve created a Google Alert for “thosegeeks,” so any time Google indexes a page with that term on it, from now on I’ll know about it! I’ve also created alerts for my name, and other brands I’m interested in.
