Opponents of State Question 744 (HOPE) Reveal Their Real Agenda: Consolidation of Rural Schools

At a meeting of the Tulsa Press Club, Executive Director of the State Chamber of Commerce Dick Rush restated the group’s opposition to SQ 744 (HOPE). He then linked the opposition to school consolidation. He was quoted as stating, “We don’t have the tax base to support 536 school systems. We must consolidate.”

The State Chamber has been joined by the Professional Oklahoma Educators (POE), Oklahoma Farm Bureau, TRUST (Roads and Bridges advocates), and the Legislative leadership in opposing the passage of the HOPE amendment.

Supporters of public schools in Oklahoma now have a clear choice to make: side those opposing SQ 744 (HOPE) and support rural school consolidation, or support those who want to provide all Oklahoma’s schools the needed funds to continue to provide a quality education to all our students.

Support SQ 744 (HOPE), get involved.
