Life & Peace Kingdom Center: Not The "Black"/"White" Church...It's The "Kingdom" Church!!
Not The "Black"/"White" Church...It's The "Kingdom" Church!!
A former Pastor of a Presidential Candidate re-exacerbated a long underlying problem within the Body of Christ. Is it the will of God that the Body of Christ be separated by our ethnic/cultural differences? When Jesus said "Upon this rock I will build my Church", was He creating a separate "Black Church" and "White Church"? Well, it depends on who you ask. If you ask a person whose opinions have been influenced by the history of the last two to three hundred years, the answer will be YES. If you ask a person whose opinions are developed through the history of the Word of God, the answer will be NO. So how you answer depends upon how your opinions were developed.
So then what does the word of God say? Jesus said "ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition". "Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition..." Mark 7:9/13. Tradition hinders Gods plans. What is Gods plan? From Adam through Jesus until the New Testament Church, the Scriptures details Gods plan of creating a Kingdom of people in the earth who will represent Him. This desire of God is culminated in the New Testament Church. Exodus 19:6 says 'And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation'. 1Peter 2:9 says ' But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation...' It's a Kingdom thang', not a black or white one!
Scripturally, cultural and ethnic diversity is clearly seen within the Kingdom. Moses led the Old Testament Kingdom people (Israel) and he was married to a Cushite/Ethiopian woman (Numbers 12:1). What about the New Testament Kingdom? Paul was separated for ministry while worshipping with Simeon called Niger (Black) and Lucious of Cyrene (now Libya) (Acts 13:1). It is clear that when the Scriptures commanded us NOT to be "unequally yoked"; it was not talking about the color of the yoke! It was telling us to fellowship with like-minded Kingdom believers, despite any ethnic/cultural differences!
One of the greatest Kingdom teachers of this generation Myles Munroe said this about the desire of God through His Kingdom people. Dr. Munroe said this: God desires to rule the visible (The Earth) from the invisible (Heaven), by way of the Invisible (the Holy Spirit) connected to your invisible (Your spirit-man), living in your visible (your body) dominating the visible (The Earth).
The Black man was not called to dominate the earth, the Kingdom people were, the White man was not called to dominate the earth, the Kingdom people were, and so on and so on... If you are one of those that love Jesus, YOU are a Kingdom person! To separate ourselves from other Kingdom people diminishes our unified strength that can change the world! The greatest analogy I have is this, corporate Kingdom fellowship is like ten thousand fans cheering for their favorite team. Because their focus is singular, their team winning. But after the game, the fans return home to every type of neighborhood in that city. That's what the Kingdom Church should be like!
