May 8, 2011 would have been Robert Johnson's 100th birthday had he not passed away.

I contacted the Robert Johnson Blues Foundation to ask about any plans they may have to mark the occasion.

This is the response I received from the Foundation:

"I'm Steven Johnson, Vice President of The Robert Johnson Blues Foundation and grandson of RJ. There's a lot planned for the 100th anniversary of my grandfather's birth. I'm not at liberty to say much until things are finalized but it's going to be a grand celebration. Speaking of celebration!!

You can spread the word to the fan club that the family of RJ has started a 501c3 non-profit foundation honoring my grandfather's legacy. Each year since our inception (2004) we have the Robert Johnson Birthday Celebration (this year May 9, 2009) in Crystal Springs, Mississippi (where RJ's son Claud and family now resides). This location is just 10 miles north of Hazelhurst, MS, the birthplace of RJ. We would love to see all of RJ's fans present to help us celebrate his legacy.
