Hopefully some of you were able to tune in and watch the Arizona Fall League's Rising Stars game on MLB Network on Saturday night. If you didn't, however, here is how the Bucco representatives in the contest fared:

Outfielder Jose Tabata hit leadoff and went 2-for-3 with an RBI single and one run scored.
Infielder Chase D'Arnaud pinch hit and then remained in the game to play third base. He finished the game 2-for-3 with two singles.
It was a rough showing for lefty Daniel Moskos, who was charged with four runs allowed in two-thirds of an inning. Moskos allowed four hits, including a solo homer.

Jason Bay was ACQUIRED in a trade by getting rid of Brian Giles...Jason Schmidt was ACQUIRED in a trade by getting rid of Denny Neagle...Freddy Sanchez was ACQUIRED in a trade by getting rid of Jeff Suppan - our other "best" players. Im sure many whined and cried about those deals too, cause ya know - trades and prospects always suck.

Not to br critical, but Jason bay was traded from the Padres and Schmidt was traded from the Braves. They were not from our farm system. But yeah Jose Guillen, Chris Young, Bronson Aroyo, and Nate McClouth included.

do you guys know the difference between Cam Bonifay, Dave Littlefield, and Neal Huntington? Exactly. You dont even realize the pirates are gonna be amazing cause you dont follow any prospects. And the prospects we have are really PROSPECTS now who are gonna be great, not people like bobby bradley, sean burnett, vanbenschoten, bullington that had the *title* prospect. Thanks

I think Huntington so far has made both good moves and questionable moves, just like every other GM in the game. This is MUCH better than having ALL the moves being bad like under Littlefield and Bonifay.

Prospects are only players who haven't proven anything in the majors yet. They may have talent but how many "can't miss" players have missed over they years? Not necessarily Pirates prospects but all teams. For every Andrew McCutcheon there are Brien Taylors (Yankees) who don't pan out. I hope most of these guys make it but it's not automatic.

And when the Pirates do get competetive again, some of the prospects WILL be traded, maybe not for money purposes but for a veteran player or 2 at the trade deadline. That's the nature of this game.

does no one get this? the pirates sucked WITH all those players. therefore they gave up nothing to trade for these prospects. at least they are trying. and hunington and coonley weren't here when we failed before so the same mistakes are not being made. I was at Primantis in Greensburg the other day.... there were Steeler and Penguins stuff plastered all over the place and I asked the manager where the Pirates stuff was and he laughed. I told him to put a tiny pirates sticker in the bathroom because they are full of sh!t.

Most of the 71 Pirates came up from the farm system. A small market can not be effective without the farm. I think Huntington is doing all he can to build what Littlefield pissed away.Tampa Bay, Arizona, Florida, Minnesota, St Louis, almost all from the farm. as long as we keep getting good young prospects for our overvalued, or older players, we should start and maintain a winning team. a small market team like pittsburgh cant compete by signing big name free agents but instead by producing young talent, year after year.

If half of you knew half as much about baseball as you claim to, you would realize that we have new ownership and new management from the early 2000s. I understand that people have a reason to be skeptical, but you cannot honestly say that the Pirates are just doing the same thing with trades all over again because the people and the strategy are completely different.

I agree with Corey. Bay Nady Wilson Sanchez were good ball players and popular, but we lost with them. The Roche was good after we were out of the race. Who needs a late Aug Sept ball player when you are 20 games out. Look at history teams that win do it in Apr, May, june thru all star break. The they maintain the lead to the end. I like all ... Gotta love the analysts at MLB Network last night who said that NL and AL Central teams have 'no excuse' not to excel and take the top spot. The Bucs have more quality prospects than at any point in my 36 years. I think this team is going to break out in 2011 or 2012 and take the pennant.....so long as guys like Tabala and McCrutchen are on the roster...
