TITAN Water Bottle: BPA Free Bottles? The Bisphenol A backlash.
Hi everyone!
As I check the daily google alerts and news results in my inbox, it’s become increasingly apparent that anti-BPA sediment is on the rise. I have yet to see definitive scientific evidence that proves any certain amount of BPA in our systems causes negative health effects though I think, by now, everyone agrees (even the plastics industry) that a ‘large’ amount of BPA in our bodies is a very bad thing.
So where is the scientific evidence? This issue has been hot, and I mean HOT for the last 8 months or so and it’s been an issue for years. Is the scientific community dragging its feet? Are there high-level obstacles put in place by chemical makers (like Dow) that are obscuring the evidence? I really don’t know.
Here’s just a smidgen of what I’ve got in my box today:

What will happen to BPA? It’s anyone’s guess. However, we think that it’s on its way out the door. Originally we were going to make the Titan with bpa-containing polycarbonate plastic but after doing some further research, we realized that there was plenty of evidence suggesting that the BPA ingested via polycarbonate bottles could have negative health effects.
As a tiny business of 2 (sometimes 3) people coming out with our first product, we knew that the Titan had to be just right…and that meant non-toxic! It’s just too bad…seeing big multi-national companies like Nalgene defending polycarbonate plastic because switching to a bpa-free plastic would be expensive. Who pays the price for that kind of thinking? The consumer!
Luckily we live in a wonderful country where tiny businesses, like Jared Joyce, Inc. can bring to market innovative (and better) products than are currently available from big businesses!
If you haven’t seen/heard of the Titan water bottle, check out the video of Jared discussing how he came up with idea for the Titan:
Happy 4th!
