Nick Pilch: Here's my ballot statement
Here's my ballot statement
I live in Albany with my wife and son, who thrives in the Albany school district. A dedicated environmentalist, Sierra Club member, and community volunteer, I believe that working with all people and groups is key to building a sustainable Albany.
Appointed by the School Board to Albany’s Parks and Recreation Commission, I have worked to promote and protect Albany’s public spaces. As current Chairperson of this Commission, I strongly support the continuing beautification of Albany; I contributed to the formation of the Tree Task Force, and have led the effort to improve the Ohlone/BART trail. I also served on the Traffic and Safety Commission, and co-founded Albany Strollers and Rollers, a citizens organization dedicated to fostering human-scale transit (walking, bicycling, etc.) and to improving safety and mobility for our children, seniors, and everyone who walks or bicycles in Albany. I support the greening of Albany. Equally vital to Albany’s sustainability is promoting fiscal health, by attracting more businesses to our city.
Albany needs an independent voice who will listen to all sides. I believe I can be a bridge that brings people together for the good of Albany. I would be honored to serve as your City Councilmember.
